Until 2021, Van Karnebeek was CCO at Heineken NV and a member of the Executive Team. After a career spanning almost 28 years at Heineken, he took on a variety of interim CEO/CCO roles.
The GreenV group, founded in 2021, has the ambition to scale up rapidly in the international horticulture industry. Board member Ton Vernaus said: “GreenV is well positioned in an attractive global growth market. Within a year and a half, we were able to bring on board three prominent Dutch companies in the international horticulture industry. In the coming years, we will continue to invest to expand and strengthen our position further. Such investments also include efforts to attract strong and experienced leaders like Jan Derck. We are beyond delighted that he is prepared to take on the role of CEO of the GreenV group. He has a strong track record in accelerating growth in global markets and bringing different businesses and company cultures together. At Heineken, he fueled global growth through an enhanced focus on customer satisfaction, opening up new customer segments, acquisitions, and innovation in products and services. We have a shared ambition to help GreenV and the companies within the group grow even faster in the coming years and to expand our position as a global player.”
Jan Derck van Karnebeek added: “Prins, Stolze and Verboom, with the support of HAL Investments, are already a powerful combination. The three companies are active in a highly innovative industry with a strong growth potential, with new clients and projects that continue to get bigger and more comprehensive. They contribute to solving a great challenge for humanity: to supply nutritious and sustainably produced food to an ever-growing global population. In addition, the flowers and plants from our greenhouses make the world a happier and more beautiful place. The GreenV companies are entrepreneurial, innovative, and proud leaders in their industry. I am personally committed to helping them grow stronger and more successful in the coming years, focusing on satisfying customers, motivating employees, further internationalisation, and innovation. I can certainly not do all this by myself, but I have full confidence that our close-knit team will make a difference together.”
Jan Derck van Karnebeek holds a number of ancillary positions. He is a non-executive board member at Rewilding Europe (chair of the Supervisory Board), EdCo (chair of the Advisory Committee), Wealth Management Partners NV (member of the Supervisory Board), Xindao (member of the Supervisory Board) and a member of the Advisory Committee of Rivean Capital. He is married and has four children. Jan Derck likes to spend his free time in nature: hiking, wildlife watching and practicing photography.
