After a tenure of more than 35 years at Prins Group, Geert van Veen will be retiring from managing the day-to-day business. He will remain involved with the company as a sounding board for the management team, which was reinforced last year with the addition of a new Finance Director, a Human Resources Manager and a Project Manager. Furthermore, Geert will continue to focus his full attention on his role as a member of the board of GreenV and on his position as Managing Director at Stolze.
“To those in the know, this management change will not come as a surprise,” said Geert van Veen in a statement. “Over the last few years, we have worked as a team to facilitate a natural transfer of the business, and to give Marco time to grow as a person and to develop within the company. We have formed a strong team around him. I have now been able to hand over the management baton with full confidence.”
Marco Zwinkels’ horticultural knowhow was spoon-fed to him from an early age. His parents owned a plant nursery for 25 years, and one of his grandfathers was not only a grower, but also a salesman of (used) greenhouses. Zwinkels studied horticulture and later obtained a degree in business management while working at Flora Holland, where he was employed for seven years. Before joining Prins Group, he worked as an entrepreneur and led his own floriculture consultancy firm. In a brief statement, he said: “I am thrilled to take over executive responsibility from Geert, and to have the opportunity to carry this wonderful business and the values that we cherish as a family company into the future. Prins Group is in a healthy position, we are showing rapid international growth, and I look forward to realizing our ambitions and growth targets together with our employees, our customers and suppliers at home and abroad, and alongside the other companies within GreenV.”
The Management Team of Prins Group is currently composed of Marco Zwinkels (Managing Director and Sales), Marco Rietveld (Finance), Adinda van der Zon (HR), Lennart Rollema (Purchasing), Nico van de Laar (Operations), Rob Schulte (Production & Logistics) and Marco Arensman (Projects).
